Bacillus thuringiensis Information Resource (BTIR)

A bioinformatics web portal and online database for Bacillus thuringiensis research community

Who we are

BTIR is an open-access web portal and online database for Bacillus thuringiensis toxin research community.    It contains integrated information about BT toxins including their sources, activities and target organisms.    It also allows a user to upload sequence and other information for a new toxin and get its nonmenclature recommendation based on its sequence similarity to exisitng toxins.

Our Team

Currently, this is a collaborative project among 4 labs:

  • Zhang Lab in Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China
  • Crickmore Lab in Department of Biochemistry, University of Sussex, Brighton, England
  • Van Frankenhuyzen lab at the Great Lakes Forestry Centre, Canadian Forest Service, Sault Ste. Marie, Canada
  • Liang Lab in Biology Department, Miami University, Ohio, USA

  • Our Goal

We are open to more collabration from the BT research community worldwide, and we strive to make BTIR a biologist-friendly bioinformatics web portal that will facilitate genomics, proteomics, metabolomics researches in BT toxins.
